In June 2017, AbbVie, in collaboration with other Canadian pharmaceutical companies as part of Innovative Medicines Canada, made a landmark move towards transparency by releasing aggregated data on their payments to Canadian Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Healthcare Organizations (HCOs).
This move enhances transparency with our well-regulated and valuable partnerships, fostering better understanding of the collaborations across our sector. It is a critical stride in building trust and adding value to both patients and the broader healthcare system.
The Voluntary Framework on Disclosure was developed by Innovative Medicines Canada, underscores our commitment as a key player in Canada’s healthcare ecosystem. AbbVie actively engages with HCPs and HCOs to promote scientific exchange, all to benefit patients. These collaborations adhere to local and international laws and the Code of Ethical Practices from Innovative Medicines Canada. Our decision to voluntarily disclose payments to HCPs and HCOs reflects our dedication to transparency and maintaining high ethical standards.
AbbVie is determined to advance and refine this framework by working closely with healthcare stakeholders to better address their needs.
Payment data is presented below in aggregated format, organized into three categories.
The amounts listed below include payments to Canadian HCPs and Healthcare Organizations (HCOs) done by AbbVie Pharma division from January 1 to December 31, 2024, and exclude payments done by the Allergan Aesthetics division.

Payments made for services rendered by a Canadian HCP for an international affiliate of the company are excluded.
Transfer of Value (ToV) is captured according to the payment date and not necessarily the date on which the activity occurred. Therefore, some activities in 2023 are reported as ToVs in 2024, and some activities that occurred in 2024 will be reported in the 2025 report.
The Company has used its reasonable best efforts to capture the most comprehensive data possible according to its knowledge and interpretation of the Voluntary Framework of Payments to HCPs/HCOs.
